The Guildhall was built 1903-16 as civic offices and law courts, replacing the Town Hall, demolished 1912, and sundry other buildings to the rear. Grade II* Listed Building https://www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1279708 Illustrated is the entrance to the former 'Sessions Court'. The ornate cast-iron gates, 1905-8, by Nelson E. Dawson (1859-1941). The elaborate trophies, in the round-headed archway, by Albert Hemstock Hodge (1875-1918).
