Sewage is indicated by the faint whiff in the air. This is fairly recent as the gantry is out in the open rather than in a building. There is a movable hoist to lift the pumps out from the we wells under the concrete slabs. The little buildings on the left no doubt house the control gear – there seem to be a surprisingly large number of them. Queensbury Sewage Works has been abandoned and the site grassed over, so the sewage from the town is presumably pumped over the hill and then gravitates into the Bradford system.
