The gardens & rockery include ponds and waterfalls with winding walks and benches. To the north-east of the bridge, beyond South Promenade road, stands the red-brick Grand Hotel, 1897, listed grade II; which overlooks the lake. The Hotel is divided from the road by a brick garden wall.
