Here the principal entrance into the Grade II-listed Church of St Edward, King and Martyr can be seen. It is surrounded on three sides by its namesake alleyway. It is a royal peculiar and as such does not belong to a diocese. David’s, an independent bookshop, visible ahead, has traded here for three centuries. This antiquarian bookselling business was established in 1896 by Gustave David and there has been a member of the founder's family involved with it ever since.
