The war memorial is outside the wall of the graveyard of St Lawrence's Church Image Its original location was just north of the old bridge and moved in 1963 when the new road bridge was built. It consists of a stone cenotaph within low curved walls which contain flower beds. At its foot is a container for cut flowers. At the top of the monument is a bronze laurel wreath. There are two bronze panels - one for each conflict. North East War Memorials Project: http://www.newmp.org.uk/detail.php?contentId=8554
