Normanby Hall was built in 1825–30 and designed by Robert Smirke for Sir Robert Sheffield (1786–1862). The house was the seat of the Sheffield family since 1539. The house was leased in 1964 on 99 year lease to Scunthorpe Council and now North Lincolnshire Council. A wing of the house was the childhood home of Prime Minister David Cameron's wife Samantha.
