Opened in 1940 by the London & North Eastern Railway on the line from London Liverpool Street to Epping and Ongar, this station replaced a previous one of 1865 vintage immediately behind the camera position. This station transferred to London Underground in 1948. View north east towards Debden and Epping. Like 55% of the London Underground network, this part is actually overground.
