Opened in 1936 by the London & North Eastern Railway, on the line from Woodford to Ilford, this station became part of London Transport in 1947 when the line was diverted from Ilford to loop round to Leytonstone and thence towards London. View north east towards Chigwell and then around the loop to Leytonstone and London. Like 55% of the London Underground network, this part is actually overground.
