The mansion (also known locally as the White House) dates from the early 19th century and was later occupied by Frederick Nettlefold, chairman of Nettlefolds Ltd which was to become a constituent part of what is now GKN plc (Guest, Keen and Nettlefold). After his death the property was sold to Croydon Corporation and it is now used as an educational centre.
