At 24-28 Baker Street, opposite Glebe Street. The Weston Mercury records that the 49 Social Club first opened on February 4th 1957 as a meeting place for staff of the Bristol Omnibus Company which was a leading bus service in the area. The club was originally at 49 Oxford Street in Weston-super-Mare, after bus inspector Gilbert Day borrowed money from the bus station canteen to open the bar. The club later moved to these premises in Baker Street.
