Both businesses are grade II listed and date from the late 18th century https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101116134-175-and-177-eastgate-see-details-for-further-address-information-rochester-west-ward#.WDnjSv5vjcc Some maps name this section of the High Street. Eastgate, but the road sign, below the wall-mounted lamp of number 177 (Rochester Cakes), bears the street name in the title. This image of Image show them when both were derelict.
