It was from here that the homeowner, Edith Pretty, looked with increasing curiosity at the nearby hummocks that turned out to be Sutton Hoo's famous burial mounds. In the late nineteen thirties she was instrumental in commissioning an archaeological dig that began to reveal the amazing Anglo Saxon secrets contained within those mounds.
