The most sought after memorial in Colne Cemetery is the one to Wallace Hartley, the bandleader on the Titanic. His body was recovered from the sea and when he was buried here 1,000 people attended the funeral and up to 40,000 people lined the route. His violin was sold by auction in 2013 for £900,000 - a record for any Titanic memorabilia.
