Langley Hall was built in 1737 for Richard Berney. Until the dissolution of the monasteries the land had belonged to Langley Abbey > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1342980. In 1744 the estate was inherited by Sir William Beauchamp whose family later changed their name to Proctor-Beauchamp. The Hall is Grade 1 listed and the grounds it is set in were designed by Capability Brown. Langley Hall is now Langley School, an independent boarding and day school that was founded in 1910.
