The Hippodrome, Bishop Auckland

On Railway Street. Opened as a music hall theatre in 1909, with limited success and was sold to Picton’s Pictures to become a cinema in 1912. It became part of the Essoldo group after the war and closed as a cinema in 1966. It is now a bingo hall.
