Entrance to Carnsew Pool, Hayle

Formerly known as The Basin, Carnsew Pool's main purpose is to supply water for scouring the channel into Hayle Harbour. This single pair of gates will allow access at the right state of the tide but I somehow doubt many boats pass through. These are a relatively recent replacement and parts of the old gates were seen nearby. It is difficult to imagine this area as a past major industrial centre.
