The southern end of the 2,997 yard Catesby Tunnel on the former Great Central Railway, showing the date stone recording its opening in 1897 and it finally closed in 1966. It only exists as the local landowner did not want trains blighting his landscape. It is said that the occupants of Catesby House could hear the trains as they sped through the tunnel and see the ceiling lights in the property swaying to and fro. There were plans to reopen the line but these never came to fruition and the tunnel is now a vehicle testing facility. Time photo taken not available.
