To passengers around Manchester these were promoted as "new" trains, but to those of us familiar with London, Class 319 will always be "Thameslink" units. The change of traction does mean that the intermediate stations between Stockport and Crewe get 4-car rather than 3-car trains for the first time since the 1980s. Here, 319379 pulls away from Sandbach on the last leg of its journey as the 11.33 Manchester Piccadilly to Crewe via Manchester Airport (a service that does not appear in the published timetable!)
