Part of the Bee in the City project, sponsored by The Hallé supported by Siemens plc, designed and decorated by Daniel Gubba and sited in Cutting Room Square, Ancoats. The name is another instance of an excruciating pun typical of the project. The design reflects the Hallé’s relationship with Manchester’s industrial heritage, and its base in Ancoats at Hallé St Peter’s. It celebrates the wonderful partnership between the Hallé and its principal sponsor Siemens – a perfect blend of music and industry. The artist’s family history in Ancoats, the street names, music shops of old and the brass of the instruments have all influenced this design.
