Part of the Bee in the City project and typical of the excruciating puns which the project has spawned. This sculpture is sponsored by Pinsent Masons LLP and sited in Crown Square, Spinningfields. The artist Jenny Leonard thought the 3-D sculpture would lend itself really well to the cubism movement and Pablo Picasso’s stylised work. Using the shapes of the model to dictate the faces and pieces, she has curved and bent Picasso’s most famous paintings around the surface of the Bee to create a fun visual pun and a recognisable, distinctive style of artwork.
