Taynton church is dedicated to St John the Evangelist. The church is Grade II* listed https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1300575 The nave and the north aisle date from around 1360, the south aisle is from around 1500. The chancel was rebuilt in 1865 by W.F. Poulton.
