Built in 1876 as part of the complex of entertainment buildings constructed on the north side of the Pavilion Gardens, the hall has seen a number of alterations and was restored in 1994. The hall closed in 2015 for essential repairs and restoration and it was intended for it to reopen in March, 2018. Bad weather and other factors have delayed the re-opening.
