On the B925 Kirkcaldy to Auchtertool road this is the entrance to what was once the Balbarton Landfill Site. Closed in 1999 it was infilled and capped and is now a wildflower meadow. After its closure it was considered as a permanent site for the Travelling Community but this plan was dropped due to concerns over the dumping of low-level radioactive waste and the emission of methane from decomposing materials Image
