Part of the short-lived development of Ashby as a spa by Francis Rawdon-Hastings, 2nd Earl of Moira. Built 1826-7 as the Hastings Hotel, with a more impressive ashlar facade onto the Bath Grounds. Originally named Hastings Hotel. Design accredited to the architect-surveyor Robert Chaplin who worked in Ashby between 1831-50. Listed Grade II*. The hotel closed in April 2018 and when this view was taken, its future was uncertain.
