An important group of buildings at the edge of the village. The architect was M.E. Hadfield of Sheffield, who created a near-perfect example of A.W.N. Pugin's ideal Catholic community in 1842-3. Largely unaltered and well cared for, this group was built at the height of Pugin's influence and with sufficient resource to do a proper job, a luxury not often available to Pugin himself.
