When this pub closed in 2010 it looked as though it would be the end for the 17th century coaching inn with a name that derives from the days of bear baiting. See Image Fortunately it reopened in November 2011 and now appears to be thriving, having been awarded CAMRA pub of the season and small business of the year for Middlewich in 2013.
