A flower border in Oaks Park, a public park owned by the London Borough of Sutton. The park, originally part of a much larger sporting estate, was largely laid out in the 1770s by the 12th Earl of Derby. The estate gave its name to the Oaks horse race, which like the Derby still takes place at Epsom racecourse. It was acquired by Carshalton Urban District Council in 1933, which developed it as a golf course and open space. The house was demolished over the period 1956-60.
