This year the main well dressing in The Nook at Stoney Middleton pays homage to the Eyam and Stoney Middleton boot and shoe operatives strike of 1918-20. The workers were on strike for over two years as they faced up to obstinate, self-seeking employers. It was a time of both destitution and courage.
