Was there a bridge here? The evidence on the ground suggests there was, and OS, even on the 1998 edition Explorer 1:25000, have 'Coxmoor Bridge' marked in here*, with a track (no right of way) approaching it from the south, but nothing on the north side, in Coxmoor Wood. GEO-projects shows nothing. If there was a bridge, when was it last used/removed? Why? Why was it not restored as the other bridges were? There must be an amateur local historian out there somewhere who knows the answers to these questions! (*However, I have noticed on many occasions that these Explorer maps have minor inaccuracies if this kind.) POSTSCRIPT ADDED November 2010 I am indebted to Nigel Searle who reports that there was indeed a bridge here, which survived until after WWII, (hence the appearance on the incompletely-revised 1998 Explorer sheet).
