Wm. Clowes & Sons Ltd. of Beccles were printers and for many years the largest employer in the town. Of the hundreds employed at the printing works and of the many who went to war these men (bar two who are buried in Beccles cemetery) never returned. The memorial which, since the factory closed has been moved into various temporary accommodation seems to have found its final resting place in Beccles Clock Tower, bears 23 names. Added on the bottom are the names of three men who lost their lives in WW2.
