Class 57 number 57316 edges its train onto the level crossing a bit north of Burneside station. When Northern trains suspended its service on the Lakes Line between Oxenholme and Windermere, due to chaos created by timetable changes, the tourist train operator West Coast Railways stepped into the breach and ran a shuttle service over the line, using vintage diesels. The train consisted of three carriages sandwiched between a Class 57 and a Class 37 locomotive.
