One of Wakefield's classic yards, developed on the old medieval burgage plots and retaining their former layout. In many places low class tenement dwellings were developed on such yards, but in Wakefield the plots were developed from the latter part of the 18th century on a more spacious scale with houses for more prosperous tenants, such as those on the right.
