Since Bill Boaden's visit in 2013 Image the trees have been trimmed, permitting a less obstructed view of the church. The original redbrick nave of 1878, designed by Edward John Payne, is seen here in the foreground with the taller stone-built chancel, later added by Julius Alfred Chatwin as the population of this residential district rapidly increased thanks to the convenience of the nearby railway station.
