Wakefield Kirkgate Station was once served by a number of important Transpennine express services, but is now unstaffed and relegated to local services - until the introduction of the Grand Central express service between Bradford and Kings Cross. Despite the more frequent service from Westgate Station to London there was healthy number of passengers boarding here.
