Extending for 50 metres alongside South Market Street, this is a restored remnant of the former cattle market now occupied by an Asda superstore. Built as a single storey cattle byre in 1844 as part of the Tredegar Cattle Market for Sir Charles Morgan (1760-1846) who established the Tredegar Wharf Company in Pillgwenlly and developed nearby Commercial Road and Commercial Street. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1521065 to the opposite side of the building which was Grade II listed in 1997 for its special interest as the best surviving part of the cattle market, an important relic of the earliest phase of the planned development of the Pill(gwenlly) area of Newport. It has important historical links with the Morgan family of Tredegar House.
