The statue above the entrance represents Amelia Opie, who lived a short distance further up the street > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5819799 , in Quakers garb > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5871283. It was carved in wood by Z Leon and then cast in artificial stone.
