Westerham: The Kings Arms

In a little town like Westerham this building seems huge and imposing - all the more so since it stands at just about the highest point in the town, overlooking both the market-place and the Green. It must - I suppose - have been a coaching inn, and a grand one at that - though none of the major routes of the pre-railway era passed through Westerham. The inscription 'Circa 1700' appears below the name of the inn - though the present building must date from a century or so later.
