This old tree, which is the only specimen of the species growing in the cemetery, can be seen in Section 11 the New Ground, near the fence separating the cemetery from Bowthorpe Road. The New Ground is part of a 15-acre plot of land purchased in 1874 and situated near the north-eastern perimeter of the cemetery. The houses glimpsed through the trees are located on Bowthorpe Road.
