Carved stone post by the UC road, in parish of Cawthorne (Barnsley District), East end of Kirkfield Close, on inside corner of green, Church Street / Barnsley Road, on North side of road. Erected by an unknown authority in the 19th century. The partially defaced inscription reads:- : CAWTHORNE / - / PENISTONE / HUDDERSFIELD / {hand to right} / BARNSLEY / {hand to left} : : SILKSTONE / 1½ MILES / {hand to right} : Carved benchmark on mid right side.
