The large house in the foreground at right is 7 The Close, a Grade II* listed late 18th century house with a later extension > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5791918. In 1780 Dr Sandby, the Chancellor of the Diocese, used to live here. It is adjoined by a terrace of houses, 8-12 The Close, built on the site of the church of St Mary at Marsh which was demolished in 1775.
