Metal plate, badly broken, attached to stone post by the A144, in parish of Wenhaston with Mells Hamlet (Suffolk Coastal District), Mells, 100m South East of railway bridge, on South-west side of road. Garrett face iron casting, erected by the Ipswich to South Town, & Darsham to Bungay Turnpike Trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : (BUNGAY / 10 / HALESWORTH / 1) : : (WENHASTON / TO / LONDON / 99) : : IPSWICH / 30 / SAXMUNDHAM / 10 : Maker:- : J GARRETT / IRON FOUNDER / ST MARGARET'S / IPSWICH / 1818 : Milestone Society National ID: SU_BGIW10.
