Situated well inland from the Mersey, it was built 1873 to mark the river's lake channel, extinguished 1913. Was part of a now closed museum, situated in private grounds. Quite difficult to find, park on the junction of Worcester and Boundary Road and walk up the paved footpath, just before the Proudman lab, fork left into the woods and follow the path up the hill around the observatory.
