This area once formed part of the grounds of Bracondale Hall, which was demolished in the 1960s. In the Norfolk Chronicle (1847) Bracondale Hall is described as a handsome modern villa with pleasure gardens delightfully laid out. The late Philip Meadows Martineau Esq [in 1793 he purchased what was then known as Bracondale Woods, where he built Bracondale Hall, and the adjacent property of Carrow Abbey] constructed here a small priory, with remnants of gothic buildings, collected by himself, and windows of ancient stained glass.
