On the side of a shop at the corner of Westburn Street and West Blackhall Street. The inscription reads "Here John Galt dwelt at his death 11th April 1839". Galt (1779-1839) was a novelist and entrepreneur, born in Irvine but spend much of his life in Greenock. A friend of Lord Byron.
