The inscription on this side reads:- "In grateful and loving memory of Brize-Norton men who gave their lives for England and Freedom. 1914-1918." Then underneath, between two Maltese crosses:- "Their name liveth for evermore." The memorial records the names of eighteen local men who died in the First World War on the other three sides. Details of these are available from the Imperial War Museum's war memorials website. There is no reference to the Second World War and so far no details have come to hand as to when the memorial was installed. Interestingly the inscription spells the village name with a hyphen in the middle. Image Image
