Inconveniently situated some 2 km west of the modern village, the kirk (viewed here from the south west) was built in 1776 in typical rectangular 'preaching box' style (compare Foveran kirk a few km down the coast: http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5581842 ) with a bellcote containing a Dutch bell dated 1519. The kirk was extended to the north in 1833 to incorporate a gallery flanked by over-the-top baronial conical towers and the southern organ chamber built in 1913.
