Viewed from the track to Teviothead Cottage, this striking 13m high monument is also eye-catching from the A7 Hawick-Langholm road. It was erected in 1874 in memory of the Revd Henry Scott Riddell (1798-1870), who lived in Teviothead Cottage and was minister at Teviothead from 1831.
