Halfway up a steep hill on Queensway is this cul-de-sac. Now there used to be some literary logic in these parts; at the bottom of the hill was Beaumont Close, where we lived, while at the top was Fletcher Close. Beaumont and Fletcher: joint-writers of Philaster and other C17 dramas, you see. But a few years later, along comes Wordsworth Close, halfway in between; Wordsworth, a poet rather than a playwright, and writing almost two centuries later. Chaos. Well, we moved right out of there, I can tell you.
