A few weeks back a lorry took out the Doric porch and much of the front of the Burton Hotel. The lorry driver attempted to pass parked vehicles opposite and collided with the porch, an original structure that dated back to 1851 and was a redeeming feature of an otherwise rather dull frontage. The hotel is displaying an admirable Blitz spirit and is still open for business.
