Finkelgate links Ber Street and Queens Road. The name is of Scandinavian origin, finkel meaning 'crooked', or perhaps 'cuddle', suggesting an English name of 'Lovers' Lane'. The cottage at the end (at left) of this terrace, 16 Finkelgate, is missing after having been demolished in 2010 due to the building subsiding about 30cm.
